Lumigan Eye Drops is a brand of Bimatoprost Ophthalmic Solution. It is prescribed for the treatment of glaucoma or other forms of increased intraocular pressure. Lumigan (Bimatoprost) can also be used to increase the length, thickness and colour of your eyelashes.
Lumigan Eye Drops for Glaucoma
Glaucoma or other forms of raised intraocular pressure can be treated by Lumigan. Lumigan is a prostamides that works by dilating the canals that drain fluid from the eyes, thereby reducing pressure. When using to treat glaucoma or high intraocular pressure, the drops should be administered directly into the eye socket.
Lumigan Eye Drops for Improving Thickness, Length and Colour of Eyelashes
Lumigan is often used to increase the length, thickness and/or colour of eyelashes. When being used to enhance eyelashes, the solution needs to be applied to the skin of the upper eyelid using an bimatoprost applicator brush.
Precautions when using Lumigan (Bimatoprost)
- Lumigan should not be applied while wearing contact lenses. At least 15 minutes should pass between applying eye drops and contact lenses.
- The dropper must not come into contact with any surfaces or your eyes or hands. This can contaminate the dropper which could lead to and eye infection.
- The safety of Lumigan has yet to be studied in children or pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- Some eye conditions may be worsened by the use of Lumigan.
- Lumigan may slowly change the colour of the iris and eyelids. These changes are usually gradual and will only affect the eye being treated.
- If using any other eye treatments, mention these to your doctor before using Lumigan.

- changes to vision
- change of colour in the iris or eyelid
