What is Symbicort?
Symbicort (Budesonide / Formoterol Fumarate) is a medication prescribed to help control asthma attacks when other medications have failed to help. If you are a chronic asthmatic, it may also used in conjunction alongside other medication.
Symbicort Dosage and Administration
How much you take and how often will depend on your condition. Take strictly as directed by your physician. Symbicort (Budesonide / Formoterol Fumarate) comes with its own inhaler and instructions which you need to read carefully before using it.
Symbicort Side Effects
As with all medication, Symbicort (Budesonide / Formoterol Fumarate) has the potential to cause side effects in some patients. Common side effects include nausea or an upset stomach, belching, indigestion, pain in your arms or legs, muscle stiffness or spasms, trouble moving, heartburn, an acid stomach, and swollen joints. If these symptoms worsen or persist, contact your physician.
Less common side effects of Symbicort include trouble breathing, pain, tenderness around the eyes or cheekbones, ear problems, chills, fever, unusual weakness or tiredness, headaches, aches or pains in the body, muscle aches, loss of your voice, or tightness in the chest or wheezing. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your physician immediately or seek emergency medical assistance.
Symbicort Warnings and Precautions
If you have any history of of diabetes, have recently been exposed to tuberculosis, bone problems, asthma attacks, trouble breathing, heart or blood problems, hypertension, glaucoma, thyroid problems, disease, low potassium levels in your blood, measles or chickenpox, or high glucose levels, tell your physician before taking this medicine.
Tobacco, alcohol, and certain foods may interact with Symbicort (Budesonide / Formoterol Fumarate), so discuss with your physician your use of these substances while taking this medication.
