What is Amoxycillin?

Amoxycillin is a type of antibiotic that is prescribed to help with killing various infections that are the result of harmful bacteria. This includes a wide list of health problems for children and adults. They include ear infections, strep throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, and even the STD gonorrhea.

There are various forms of Amoxycillin offered. They include capsules, tablets, chewables, and liquids. Adults are usually given the capsules are tablets with younger children taking the chewable form or the liquid. The liquid is a light pink color or white and it doesn’t taste bad. Most children will take it without any problems.

Amoxycillin Dosage and Application

It is important for the Amoxycillin to be taken and prescribed in order to successfully kill the bacteria. The required dose may be once or twice per day so make sure you read the label on the product. Most people will start to feel better within a day or two of taking this antibiotic.

However, it is very important to continue to take the full prescription. This can range from 3 days to about 14 days depending on the circumstances. If a person fails to complete the round of antibiotics then there can be bacteria that starts to create health problems again very soon.

Amoxycillin Precautions

Some individuals are allergic to Amoxycillin and Penicillin and that needs to be told to the doctor. For first time users there needs to be supervision to watch for any signs of an allergy. Those signs include hives, swelling of the face, and trouble breathing. Immediate medical attention should be given for such symptoms.

Amoxycillin Side Effects

There are some mild side effects that can occur when someone is taking Amoxycillin. They include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, and irritability. Many people also experience fatigue that can last for several weeks while they are using it as well as after.
