What is Campicillin?

Campicillin is the same as Ampicillin. This is a type of powerful antibiotic that can help to kill harmful bacteria. It is often prescribed when other forms of antibiotics such as Augmentin aren’t working for someone. It is classified as a Penicillin.

What is Campicillin Used for?

There is a multitude of types of bacteria Campicillin can help to kill. If such harmful bacteria isn’t fully destroyed it can lead to ongoing infections and pain. This type of antibiotic is often used for more extreme forms of bacteria. This includes those involved with STDs such as Gonorrhea. This medication can also be useful to treat serious food poisoning issues including Salmonella and E. Coli.

Dosage and How to Take

This medication is typically given in a daily dose of 500 mg. the capsules should be taken on an empty stomach to reduce the risk of nausea and vomiting. Don’t consume any food for at least 1 hour after taking this medicine. For more serious situations, a second dose may be necessary as well. Make sure you take this medication as directed and follow all instructions carefully.

As is the case with all antibiotics, make sure you take Campicillin for the entire duration. This can be up to 14 days. However, most people start to feel much better within a few days of taking it. Don’t stop using the medication or the bacteria can continue to develop and you can become ill all over again.

Possible Side Effects

There are some side effects which can be caused due to the use of Campicillin. This includes diarrhea so you need to make sure you take action to remain hydrated. In severe, cases you may be admitted to the hospital so medication can be administered and an IV can administer fluids.

Possible side effects can include headache, abdominal pain, and vagina discharge. Let your doctor know if you experience any bloody stools, you have a fever, or you suffer from excessive fatigue.

Precautions and Warnings

Campicillin is only going to work for a bacterial infection. Such medication offers no value for any type of virus. It doesn’t help with treating the common cold or the flu. Individuals with liver or kidney problems aren’t a good candidate for the use of this medication.

Women who are pregnant or nursing may be able to use Campicillin without risk to the fetus or the baby. Consult with your doctor about the pros and cons of doing so. If you are taking this medication due to an STD make sure you don’t have unprotected sex at any time. Doing so can cause the health concern to be transmitted to other parties.
