What is Dytor?
Dytor works by causing the kidneys to remove excess salt and water in the body by increasing the production of urine. The active ingredient torsemide belongs to a class of medications called loop diuretics or “water tablets”. The medication can be used to treat swelling and fluid retention (edema) in patients with liver disease, congestive heart failure or kidney disorders such as nephritic syndrome. Reducing excess fluid and salt in the body can also treat hypertension (high blood pressure) which can help prevent heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems.
How is Dytor used?
Dytor should be taken as directed by a doctor, usually once per day in the morning. The medication should be taken with plenty of water but can be taken with or without food. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient's response to the therapy. It is recommended to take the tablets at least 4 hours prior to bedtime to prevent waking up in the middle of the night to urinate. Do not stop the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you feel well, as patients with hypertension usually have no visible symptoms.
