Uses

Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) has an antihypertensive effect and is used to treat primary and secondary arterial hypertension. Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) belongs to the class of angiotensin 2 receptor antagonists (AT1 subtype). Angiotensin II is a key compound of RAAS (renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system), which plays an important role in the regulation of blood pressure and the pathogenesis of hypertension. Angiotensin II increases blood pressure due to a pronounced vasoconstrictor effect, activation of epinephrine production and an increase in the amount of circulating blood.

It is very important that when prescribing Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) for a long period, tolerance to it does not develop.

Dosage and Administration

Always follow your doctor`s instructions when using Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) to get the safest and most effective results from treatment. Typically, the recommended initial dose of Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) is 60 mg once a day, regardless of the meal time. If blood pressure cannot be adequately controlled against the background of the use of the drug in a dose of 60 mg, the dose of Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) can be increased to 120 mg once a day.

The antihypertensive effect of fimasartan generally develops within 2 weeks, the maximum decrease in blood pressure is usually achieved after 8-12 weeks of therapy.

Side effects

The use of Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) may cause side effects in some patients including:

• dizziness
• dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting
• pain in the upper abdomen
• cough
• pruritus, localized urticaria
• asthenia

Precautions

The use of Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) during pregnancy is contraindicated.

Also, the use of Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) is contraindicated in women planning a pregnancy. In the event of pregnancy, Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) should be stop as soon as possible.

It is unknown whether fimasartan is excreted in breast milk of women. Therefore, the use of Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) is not recommended for nursing mothers. A decision must be made whether to stop breastfeeding or to discontinue fimasartan, given the importance of therapy to the mother.

The effect of fimasartan on the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms has not been studied. However, sometimes drowsiness and dizziness may occur due to the use of antihypertensive drugs, so patients taking Fimanta 60 (Fimasartan) should be warned about the existence of such a risk.
