Flagyl

Flagyl (Metronidazole) is a type of antibiotic and it is often used to treat a variety of infections for the skin and the reproductive areas when there is bad bacteria present. This type of product isn’t going to work for any viral infection. It may be necessary to take this medicine for up to 10 days but it depends on the type of bacteria and the severity of it. At the very least, a patient will need to take it for 5 days to fully kill the bad bacteria.

In order for this medicine to work effectively, it has to be taken as prescribed. That could be from 1 to 3 times per day. Create a time table and schedule for taking Flagyl so that you don’t accidentally skip doses or take too much of it. Individuals that use blood thinners aren’t a good candidate for the use of this medicine. Make sure your doctor is aware of what you use.

Individuals with Crohn’s Disease, liver or kidney problems, or blood concerns may not be able to use this medicine. They need to talk to their doctor to make sure what they are using won’t negatively interact with the Flagyl. Your doctor should also know about any herbal products and vitamins you may be taking.

Women shouldn’t use this medicine if they are pregnant. It is a good idea to take extra precautions while using it to prevent pregnancy. The use of alcohol shouldn’t be considered while taking Flagyl. Doing so can result in some side effects such as vomiting, shaking, sweating, or flushing.

Do your best to limit exposure to sunlight for a few weeks while using this medicine. A person may become very sensitive to UV rays including those outdoors and offered at indoor tanning salons. Loss of appetite and dry mouth are common side effects with the use of Flagyl. Tell your doctor if you get pain in the joints, itch often, or you get a rash.
