Liothyronine Sodium (Thyro3)

Liothyronine Sodium (thyro3 or T3)is a synthetic version of the thyroid hormone triiodothyronine. It is prescribed to treat hypothyroidism (insufficient hormone production by the thyroid). Hypothyroidism can result in a large number of problems if untreated including metabolic problems, lack of energy, sleeping problems, hair loss and weight gain. Liothyronine Sodium can also be used in case of goiters (enlarged thyroid).

Liothyronine Sodium Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe the correct dosage for your condition after determining current hormone levels. Each tablet contains 25mcg of Liothyronine Sodium. It is important that you continue to have your hormone levels check while taking Liothyronine Sodium as your dosage may need to be adjusted throughout treatment.

Possible Side Effects of Liothyronine Sodium

Liothyronine Sodium is generalyl well tolerated. Most side effects occur due to excessive levels of the hormone being present. Being regularly tested can help prevent this. Possible side effects that may occur include:

• increased heart rate
• headache
• increased sweating
• nervouseness
• tremor
• insomnia
• diarrhea, vomiting and weight loss
