Mirtazapine 30mg
Mirtazapine and Depression
Mirtazapine is a common medication that seems to work well on people with both mild and moderate depression. Depression doesn’t have to control your life, but you do have to take some action to battle it. The use of antidepressant medication like Mirtaz may be able to help. Mirtazapine allows the chemicals in the brain to be adjusted to where they are more in balance.
Mirtazapine Dosage
The amount of Mirtazapine that is taken depends on the patient and their level of depression. Since the body chemistry can be so different for each of is, there is some patience that has to be in place. The doctor will start out with the lowest possible amount of the medication. If that isn’t sufficient then they can increase it in small increments. It can take several weeks of using Mirtazapine before a patient is able to determine if it is working for them or not.
This type of medication should only be taken before a person goes to bed. It can be taken with food or without. Some patients experience nausea and then it may be better to take it with food. It is important to never skip doses as that will reduce the effectiveness of being able to regulate the chemicals in the brain. Even when a patient feels better, they need to continue taking it.
Mirtazapine Side Effects and Precautions
Not everyone is healthy enough to use Mirtazapine so a complete medical history will be completed before it is prescribed. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have problems with your heart, liver, or kidneys. Tell them if you have low blood pressure or high cholesterol. You also need to disclose all medications you take and any supplements.
Drowsiness is the most common side effect from Mirtazapine. It is never a good idea to drive after taking it. Keep in mind though it should only be taken before you go to sleep. Some patients experience dry mouth and increased appetite with Mirtazapine. They may experience some weight gain as well. Serious side effects such as changes in breathing or a rash need to be immediately discussed with a doctor.
