The brand name for the drug Olmesartan is Olmecip. Olmesartan belongs to the family of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor antagonists. By using Olmesartan a patient can widen the blood vessels and lower blood pressure. Olmesartan is designed to address high blood pressure (hypertension). It is commonly used for adults. In addition, it is used for children 6 years of age or older. Although this is the main purpose of this drug; there may be other uses as well.
Olmesartan Precautions

For children that weight in between 44 and 77 pounds you then10mg orally one time per day. If the child weighs over 77 pounds then they can take 20mg one time per day. The medical provider can up the dose to 20mg for children and 40gm for adults depending on the conditions.
Olmesartan Side Effects

The side effects vary because every patient is different and reacts to medication accordingly. One of the most common side effects is dizziness. Severe side effects to look for are allergic reactions like difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest or swelling of facial features.
