Polidocanol Injection
Polidocanol for Spider Veins
Polidocanol (Asklerol) Injection is a sclerosing drug used with each other to help reduce the appearance of varicose veins and spider veins in the legs. It can be used on those that are very deep and that are up to 3mm wide. Asklerol should only be offered intravenously. It should be placed into the vein and then slowly released.
Polidocanol Dosage and Administration
Once Polidocanol Injections have been completed the person needs to walk around for at least 15 minutes. This allows the two medications to be spread around the legs and to help break up the spider veins. It is important to keep compression on the area for a period of 3 days on and off.
The frequency of the Polidocanol Injection depend on the severity of the spider veins. It also depends on how well a patient happens to be responding to the treatment. There could be very small blood clots that are in the veins and they will have to be removed through incisions.
Polidocanol Precautions
Anyone who suffers from a form of immune system disorder, HIV, or asthma may not be a good candidate for the use of Polidocanol Injection. They also aren’t recommended for anyone with hear problems or respiratory problems including asthma.
Polidocanol Side Effects
There can be very serious side effects associated with the use of these medications. It is important for a patient to remain at the doctor’s office for a couple of hours after the first injection. This will help them to see how the person will react to the use of the two medications.
If serious side effects such as loss of feelings in the legs, changes in vision, changes in heart rate, trouble with breathing, or low blood pressure occur after the Polidocanol Injection then immediate care from medical professionals may be necessary to offset the potential for serious health problems.
