Strattera 10mg
Strattera as a treatment for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
Strattera (Atomoxetine Hydrochloride) 10mg is an approved treatment for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). It can be prescribed for both adults and children.
Strattera Precautions and Side Effects
The use of Strattera has been quite controversial. While it can aid with reducing hypertension in both adults and children, it can result in depression and suicidal thoughts. This medication is typically only given when other products haven’t been successful for ADHD.
A complete medical assessment needs to be completed before it can be prescribed. Anyone that has a history of Glaucoma or heart problems may not be able to take it. There are other medications that it won’t react well with. This includes over the counter products so always tell your doctor about anything you use.
A mental health evaluation is also considered before Strattera. Patients have to be closely monitored for any changes in behavior that could indicate suicidal thoughts. Individuals that have mental health concerns or that have been treated for depression may not respond positively to the use of Strattera.
Strattera Dosage
The dose needs to be started very low and then it can be slowly increased about a month later if the dose isn’t high enough. It can take up to a month for a patient to see how their body will fully respond to the use of Strattera. It is very important to only take this medication if the doctor has prescribed it for you. It has to be taken at the right dose, and it needs to be taken every day.
Side effects can occur if someone stops taking this medication suddenly. A patient should never stop taking it without the approval of the doctor. They should never take less than the prescribed amount either. The daily dose may be one or two capsules. Most patients take it only once a day but there are people that need to take it twice per day.
It can be taken with or without food. However, many individuals experience nausea when taking Strattera on an empty stomach. If that is the case, take it with food to bypass such a side effect. Close interaction with the doctor is important when taking Strattera.
