Stromectol
Stromectol Uses
Stromectol (Ivermectin) is a type of medication that can be given in order to treat an infection by roundworms. They are able to get into the body through the skin and then they can move into the airway and to the intestines of the body. This particular medication is able to kill the worms. An infection can be very serious as it can deplete the body of vitamins and nutrients and cause loss of vision if left untreated.
There are a few other uses for Stromectol. It has been administered to help kill off adult lice in severe cases. If mites get under the skin it can cause a rash and areas of red, bumpy skin to develop that don’t go away. This medication can sometimes help with that as well.
Stromectol Dosage
This medication should be taken on an empty stomach with a glass of water. It is a tablet form that is easy to swallow. Most of the time Stromectol should only be taken once per day. The dose though depends on the severity of the infection. It is also important to take follow up doses every three months for one year in order to make sure there is no chance of any worms in the body surviving.
Stromectol Precautions
To determine how effective the medication is you will have to see the doctor often for a stool sample. The medication can take up to three months of use before there are clean stool samples without any signs of the worms in them.
It is very important to tell your doctor about any other forms of medication you take. This isn’t just limited to those that are prescriptions either. It also includes herbal supplements and various over the counter products that you may use. Individuals that are taking medicine for mental health disorders, sedatives for sleeping, or muscle relaxers shouldn’t take Stromectol.
Anyone with the HIV virus or that has had meningitis also shouldn’t take this type of medication. Women who are pregnant or nursing are advised to avoid using this form of medication. It is also recommended to avoid consuming alcohol while taking it.
Stromectol Side Effects
There have been some side effects identified with the use of Ivermectin. They include dizziness, nausea, and fainting. If blurred vision or trouble breathing occurs then stop taking the medicine and notify the doctor immediately.
