Mebendazole Tablets (Vermox)

Mebendazole Tablets(Vermox) is an effective treatment for threadworm. Threadworm is a common problem among children and is highly contagious. Symptoms can include itching around the anus, irritability, restless sleep and lack of appetite. A single dose (one tablet) of Vermox can treat a threadworm infestation. Whipworm, roundworm and hookworm are less common than threadworm and can also be treated by Mebendazole (Vermox). Vermox is available as an orange flavoured tablet or a chocolate-flavoured chewable tablet that children will love.

Mebendazole (Vermox) Dosage and Administration

Mebendazole can be taken by anyone over the age of 2. Simply chew one single tablet (for adults or children). As threadworm can be easily spread between family members, it is highly recommended that all family members take a dose at the same time, even if they are not exhibiting syptoms. Sometimes a second follow-up dose may be required one month later.

Mebendazole (Vermox) Precautions

Mebendazole should not be taken by infants under 2 years old. When taking mebendazole you should also wash all clothes and bed linen in hot water to kill any eggs. Showering and thorough cleaning of the anal region is also important.

Mebendazole (Vermox) for Other Worm Infections

Whipworm, roundworm and hookworm are less common than threadworm and can also be treated by Mebendazole (Vermox). If you suspect an infection by one of these worms you should check with your doctor or pharmacist prior to treatment.
